Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Evansville
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Evansville, WI
Core Physical Therapy is one of the few outpatient physical therapy clinics in the region offering in-house diagnostic musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound. This advanced imaging technology allows our trained therapists to visualize muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints in real time — right in our clinic, during your visit.
What Is MSK Ultrasound?
Musculoskeletal ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed images of soft tissue structures. Unlike MRI, it’s performed in real time, allowing your therapist to see how tissues move and respond during examination. It’s non-invasive, radiation-free, and provides immediate results.
How We Use It
Our licensed therapists use MSK ultrasound to:
- Identify the source of pain — visualize tears, inflammation, fluid, and structural abnormalities that may not be apparent through physical examination alone
- Guide treatment decisions — see what’s happening inside the tissue to create more targeted, effective treatment plans
- Track healing progress — monitor tissue changes over the course of rehab to adjust treatment and confirm recovery
- Support referrals — when imaging findings suggest the need for further workup, we provide referring physicians with ultrasound images and a detailed clinical summary
Common Conditions We Image
- Rotator cuff tears and tendinopathy
- Tennis and golfer’s elbow (lateral and medial epicondylitis)
- Achilles tendon injuries
- Plantar fasciitis
- Muscle strains and tears
- Joint effusions and bursitis
- Ligament sprains
- Carpal tunnel and other nerve entrapments
What Makes This Different
Most outpatient PT clinics treat based on clinical examination alone. At Core PT, our trained therapists can see the tissue in real time. This means faster, more accurate diagnosis, more targeted treatment, and better communication with your referring provider. When we send a progress report that includes ultrasound images showing tissue healing, it changes the conversation.
For Referring Providers
We welcome referrals from physicians, orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine providers, and other specialists. When you refer a patient to Core PT, you can expect:
- Diagnostic ultrasound imaging with clinical correlation included in progress notes and reports
- Direct communication if imaging findings suggest the need for advanced imaging (MRI) or specialist referral (orthopedic surgery, regenerative medicine)
- Timely, detailed documentation that supports your clinical decision-making

Awesome place. I would tell people to go there for therapy. Everyone there makes you feel like your important. They all know who you are and greet you when you walk in. They have coffee and water if you like. And are willing to get that for you. They make you feel comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. Hailey, and Francesca are two of the therapists. Their awesome..!

Highly Recommend!! We are so lucky to have Core so close to home! When I hurt my ankle my doctor wanted me to start PT. With a busy schedule I wasn’t interested in driving out of town to go. I contacted Core after receiving a recommendation from a friend. Best choice I’ve made. You are treated like family from the moment you walk in the door. It’s easy to schedule appointments and they can usually accommodate my days and time preferences when scheduling, which is much appreciated. Look no further for your PT needs! You will not be disappointed.
